HINDRANCES TO DIVINE HEALTH AND HEALING

HINDRANCES TO DIVINE HEALTH AND HEALING
The reality of divine health is unquestionable. So is the reality of divine healing unquestionable. God’s Word is sure and settled about both.
But why are many not enjoying divine health?  Why are some
Christians still plagued with sickness and disease?
Why do Christians still take drugs to get healed? Surely the fault is not with God! In Lam. 3:40, Haggai 1:7 we are asked to examine our ways. Below are the things that hinder Divine healing or health:
Lam 3:40
40 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord.
Hag 1:7
7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.
1. Sin. Hosea 7:1-2, Isaiah 59:2
Hos 7:1-2
When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria: for they commit falsehood; and the thief cometh in, and the troop of robbers spoileth without. 2 And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now their own doings have beset them about; they are before my face.
Isa 59:2
2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
2. Doubt and Unbelief. James 1:6-8, Luke 1:45, Hebrews 4:9-11
Hebrews 11:11
James 1:6-8
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Luke 1:45
45 And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.
Heb 4:9-11
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Heb 11:11
11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.

3. Alternatives. Heb. 11:6, Hos. 5:13, Is. 30:1-3, Jer. 17:5
Heb 11:6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Hos 5:13
13 When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then went Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb: yet could he not heal you, nor cure you of your wound.
Isa 30:1-3
Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: 2 That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! 3 Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.
Jer 17:5
5 Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.
4. Impatience. Jam.1:2-4, Heb. 6:12, Heb.10:36, Eph. 6:13-14
James 1:2-4
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
Heb 6:12
12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Heb 10:36
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
Eph 6:13-14
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
5. Disobedience. Deut. 28:15-44, Ecc.10:8
Deut 28:15-44 [ABRIDGED]
15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
Vs21-24
21 The Lord shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it. 22 The Lord shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish. 23 And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron. 24 The Lord shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
Vs42-44
42 All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume. 43 The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low. 44 He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.
Eccl 10:8
8 He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.
6. Unforgiveness and Bitterness. Heb. 12:15 Mat. 18:32-35
Heb 12:15
15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
Matt 18:32-35
32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: 33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? 34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. 35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
7. Absence of Love. 1 John 4:8, Mat. 6:33, 1 John 2:11, Gal. 5:6
1 John 4:8
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
Matt 6:33
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
1 John 2:11
11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
Gal 5:6
6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
8. Fear. 1 John 4:18, 2 Timothy 1:7
1 John 4:18
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
2 Tim 1:7
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
9. Religious misconceptions. John 12:40, Eph.1:17-19, Eph.4:23, Col.3:12 (Don’t be proud, be humble), Is.5:20 (Don’t see good and call it evil.  Don’t mock what God values.)
John 12:40
40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
Eph 1:17-19
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
Eph 4:23
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
Col 3:12
12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
Isa 5:20
20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
10. Anxiety and unthankfulness. Col 3:15-16, Phil. 4: 6, 2 Thes. 5:18
Col 3:15-16
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Phil 4:6
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
1 Thess 5:18
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
